A GOOD .44 (HENRY R/F) LEVER-ACTION REPEATING CARBINE, MODEL '1866', serial no. 52772,
for 1871, with blued 20in. barrel (muzzle re-dressed), the top signed 'WINCHESTER'S REPEATING ARMS, NEWHAVEN CT.' over 'KINGS IMPROVEMENT PATENTED MARCH 29 1866, OCTOBER 16 1860', small double notch folding rear-sight, fore-sight integral with the barrel-band, nickel-plated brass receiver (strong amount of plating remaining), the top engraved 'B. COIRIERS BOULEVART DES ITALIENS 4 PARIS', no provision for peep-sight on the top-tang, saddle-ring to left hand side, walnut butt-stock, plated heel-plate with central trap-door (a name erased from the plate), inlet where a swivel-mount was fitted, plated iron under-lever with small finger-loop, walnut fore-end, re-blued barrel-band (swivel removed) and re-finished full length magazine, much original finish except where noted
